Goal - Target Mapping
- Identify target network IP ranges
- Validate identified IP range - Internet registries
- Use DNS to extract hostnames and additional interesting host

IP Address Assignment and Allocation Overview
IP address management is crucial for ensuring an organized and efficient allocation of global and regional IP resources. Several entities collaborate in this process to maintain a structured hierarchy:
- American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN)
- Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC)
- Latin America and Caribbean Network Information Centre (LACNIC)
- African Network Information Center (AFRINIC)
- Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPENCC)
IP Address Allocation
The hierarchical structure ensures a systematic allocation of IP addresses globally. This process is overseen by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) under the management of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).
- ICANN/IANA:
- Allocates unallocated IP address blocks to the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs).
- Regional Internet Registries (RIRs):
- Manage regional pools of IP addresses and allocate these to ISPs (Internet Service Providers) or assign directly to organizations.
- ISPs and End Users:
- ISPs receive IP addresses from RIRs and further re-allocate or reassign them to end users, businesses, or other ISPs.
